Why This Blog

For much of our lives we rent ourselves out, offering our time, intelligence, and capabilities to an employer, a profession, a cause, a business, an art form…something other than ourselves.

And we produce…something.
A television program, a play, a water heater, a press release,
a bushel of grain, a pig…something other than ourselves.

And as we produce or write something, that thing in turn writes our story, and produces changes
to who we are and how we see the world.

In terms of personal success and development, for our own survival and wellbeing we tend to invest our time and energy into areas of our lives that give us acknowledgement, validation, and rewards.

This is where our development as individuals gets tricky. Are we allowing ourselves to be manipulated by the systems that reward us with money, or validation?

These are examples of writing or creative projects that co-created who I am today.
And yes, I’ve received some validation from doing so, but very little money.
